Baxter

Administrative Assistant

Baxter is probably the hardest working living thing at Kyle LeMaire Photography. Everyday after a bit of cat nip, he diligently starts answering emails and phone calls like no other I know. I couldn't even get him to stop working long enough for a headshot.

Morgan Bartholick

Everything Else

Assistant, life blood, moral compass, and amazing friend. Without him, I would be a chicken with my head cut off. He grounds me, keeps me sane, forces me to think outside the box, and teaches me everyday.  Also, he may or may not be my fiancé, so he kinda has too. :-)

THE PHILOSOPHY

THE PHILOSOPHY

THE PHILOSOPHY

As an actor, I know firsthand how difficult it is searching for a photographer to take your headshots. It can be a maddening experience. It doesn't have to be!

Actually it should be the easiest thing you have ever done in your life. It is just a picture. That's it.

Yes, a very important picture, but you shouldn't have to stress about it.

Just be yourself!

The presence, intensity, love, emotion, and human heart that an actor can present in front of a camera is astounding. A simple, specific story running through your imagination can help you start a career, book a job, and make you a star all in one click of a button.

When you are in front of the camera, I want you to be relaxed, confident, and fierce. I want you to feel great, look great, be great and it all starts with communication and collaboration. We will work together closely to create striking images that will get you in the room and set you up for stardom.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Working with Kyle is a very enjoyable experience. His calming nature is relaxing, giving me the freedom to follow suit and what came out was a superb pair of head shots that have helped me break into this industry. He is affordable, reliable and great photography. Do yourself a favor and get your headshots with Kyle.
— Jorge Chapa

I would recommend Kyle to any actor, any day! My shoot with him was not only a lot of fun, but it also yielded a great number of wonderful photos to choose from. It’s great to have many choices and feel good about so many of them. Kyle has the unique talent of helping YOU be YOU......
.....I have had experiences with other photographers and they want to turn me into something they see that isn’t necessarily me, and as a result I didn’t feel like it was really me on those photos. Kyle is able to bring out your personality in a simple, true, and beautiful way. When I look at photos he has taken of fellow actors, I can see that he has captured the essence of their personality. I feel confident that my head shot says a lot about who I am and that people will not be surprised when the see me and my image together. That is one of the most valuable things to have as an actor, a head shot that truly brands you.
Our shoot was also FUN. I laughed a lot and had a great time. I don’t really enjoy having my photograph taken and so am not really relaxed in front of a camera. However, Kyle helped me shake that. He was able to pinpoint exactly where he could see tension through the lens. That was incredibly helpful. He took his time, was patient, creative, inspired...I know I will go back to him in the future.

Kyle has a gift for bringing out a person’s true spirit through his photography. His easygoing nature and natural warmth allow you to relax during your shoot, making it a fun and enjoyable experience! I loved working with him and have recommended him to several friends already.

Playing with Kyle LeMaire was probably one of the most rewarding experience I had in front of a photographer. I’ve had my headshot taken various times, and every time I felt there was a barrier between the photographer and me. Let me preface that I was happy with my previous headshots. I don’t want to take anything away from them. But a common thread between most photographers is their attempt in getting you to “relax and feel like you are talking to your best friend.” Achieving this is very difficult. For Kyle, it seems to be a piece of cake.....
The moment we met, we were already joking around and having a fantastic time. We were swapping stories about our acting expirences and simply enjoyed each other’s company. It’s a big part of what makes Kyle so accessible: he knows how actors think and behave. I mean, he is one, and a fantastic one at that! So it was very easy to connect, and the camera simply became a character in our conversations. In fact, I would say that the camera became our friend! It’s incredibly satisfying to be around people who want to be there, and enjoy their job. Kyle makes it feel more like a hobby. Never did I feel like I was client or a project to Kyle. It was all about having fun. Oh, and he also has some awesome ideas. For example, he told me at one point to “smile with my ears,” and you know what happened? I got that “sparkle in the eyes” that every actor wants from their headshot. So yeah, if you are looking for a good time with a fellow actor, and want to have fun during your shoot, Kyle is your guy. The headshots are top quality, and you’ll be set for all your submissions. My manager was very impressed with my headshots, and I have gotten great feedback from casting directors. The fact that his photos are spectacular is an awesome bonus, but it’s the experience that will make me want to go back to him.

I am not a huge fan of having my picture taken so I find headshot sessions to be difficult. But Kyle is fantastic at making you feel relaxed during the session; his warmth and generous spirit put you at ease. He helps guide you through the session, talking you through it and giving you pointers so I never questioned what I should be doing while my photos were being taken, as I have in the past with other photographers. And I am extremely happy with the shots; they are definitely the best I’ve ever had taken. And people always tell me that not only do they look great but they also look just like me - everything you could want in a headshot!

My session with Kyle was wonderful. Getting new head shots can be a dreaded experience of self loathing and judgement, but Kyle took all of the pressure away and made me feel comfortable and confident. There is no denying actors express vulnerability on a regular basis, but it’s easier as other characters. Kyle made it ok to be myself and be silly, and captured some really great shots that I continue to use and help get work! I shot with Kyle in New York but moved to the West Coast shortly after, and people ask me all the time who did my head shots. If you’re looking for quality and comfort, Kyle is your guy.
— Jeff Adams

There are two things I trust in this world: that the sun will rise and that Kyle LeMaire will provide me with the best headshot experience ever. As a person who typically shies away from pictures, Kyle made me feel so incredibly comfortable in my own skin. He is an actor, so he knows how to motivate each shot. But more importantly, he’s an accomplished photographer who knows which angles work best, which postures don’t and which looks will get you booked. He uses natural light and natural background to enhance how each individual looks while still keeping them looking like them. More importantly, most people charge two or three times as much for what he provides. He allows you full access to all of your shots, so it really allowed for me to be in control of your final product. Casting directors and agents constantly compliment my headshots. I would recommend Kyle to anyone.

FAQ/CONTACT

ANY QUESTIONS?

I'M A LITTLE NERVOUS....ITS MY FIRST SHOOT! ANY ADVICE

You’re an actor, and being on camera is what you do. Your shoot will be friendly and laid back and we’ll work together to get gorgeous shots of the unique, talented, and dynamic you. Do all your pre-shoot work, then just show up. I’ll take care of the rest!

HOW LONG DO THE SESSIONS LAST?

A  session lasts about 2 to 3 hours all together depending on they amount of looks. I strongly believe  in shooting until we have a ton fantastic shots that give variety. The really isn't a set time limit! When we finish is when we finish!

WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?

I have an amazing rooftop here in Washington Heights. Natural light provides a lot of depth so that you are beautifully and cinematically highlighted as the center of attention, which casting directors love!

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET?

Nothing is set in stone. I take as many shots as I need for each individual person. You will leave with plenty of shots to choose from. The Average amount is between 200-350.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?

Speak with you peers, agent, and managers for help with discovering your type. Watch films and television.....which actors do you find yourself most like. Look at headshots of your favorite performers Spend a little time in front of the mirror and get a feel for your angles and expressions. Then stop thinking! Enjoy you time!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "LOOK"?

A “look” is defined by wardrobe and character choice. “Young Mom,” “Office Employee,” and “Blue Collar Worker” are all examples of different “looks.” It’s how agents, managers, and casting directors will define your headshot and know which roles you fit best. Know your type. Are you the “Girl Next Door?” Or are you the “Hipster” or the “Surfer Dude?” Consult with an agent, manager, or peers ahead of time to decide which looks you want to achieve.

WHAT ABOUT HAIR AND MAKE-UP?

Feel free to do your own hair and make-up, hire your own artists, or hire the wonderfully talented make-up artist who I have worked with before.

WHAT DO I WEAR FOR MY SHOOT?

After the shoot, you will receive a link in your email that will bring you to your own private online gallery of all your proofs. Use this to choose your favorites for retouching. Forward the link on to friends, agents, managers, etc. to get opinions. Email me the numbers of one chosen image per look, and I will edit them within a few days. You then will receive and email that will contain Hi-Resoloution digital images of your retouched photos.

ARE YOU AWESOME?

Yes. Yes, I am. :)

We'd Love To Hear From You!
