MEET THE GANG!
Kyle
Photographer
I have been photographing actor headshots for the past 10 years and still get excited as the first day I stepped behind the camera. Growing up in South Louisiana I was surrounded by inspiration but was drawn to the thrill of the stage. When I moved to NYC 5 years ago to obtain my MFA in Acting I had no idea how much it would inform my work as a headshot photographer and my ability to help performers discover their brand and the many types of each individual.
Baxter
Administrative Assistant
Baxter is probably the hardest working living thing at Kyle LeMaire Photography. Everyday after a bit of cat nip, he diligently starts answering emails and phone calls like no other I know. I couldn't even get him to stop working long enough for a headshot.
Morgan
Photographer and Everything Else
Assistant, life blood, moral compass, and amazing friend. Without him, I would be a chicken with my head cut off. He grounds me, keeps me sane, forces me to think outside the box, and teaches me everyday. Also, he may or may not be my fiancé, so he kinda has too. :-)
ANY QUESTIONS?
+ I'M A LITTLE NERVOUS....ITS MY FIRST SHOOT! ANY ADVICE?
Remember, you’re an actor and being on camera is what you do. Your shoot will be friendly and laid back. We’ll work together to get gorgeous shots of the unique, talented, and dynamic person you are. Do all your pre-shoot work, then just show up. I’ll take care of the rest!
+ HOW LONG DO THE SESSIONS LAST?
Generally, a session lasts about 2 hours, give or take. It depends on the amount of looks you have scheduled. I strongly believe in shooting until we have a ton of fantastic shots that give variety. There really isn't a set time limit! When we finish is when we finish!
+ WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?
I shoot around the Washington Heights area, where I live. Natural light provides a lot of depth so that you are beautifully and cinematically highlighted as the center of attention, which casting directors love!
+ HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET?
Nothing is set in stone. I take as many shots as I need for each individual person. You will leave with plenty of shots to choose from. The Average amount is between 300-350.
+ HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
Speak with your peers, agents, and managers for help with discovering your brand. Watch films and television...which actors do you find yourself most like? Look at headshots of your favorite performers. Spend a little time in front of the mirror and get a feel for your angles and expressions. Do the pre-shoot branding preparation I will send. Then stop thinking! Enjoy your time!
+ WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "LOOK"?
A look is defined by wardrobe and character choice. Young Mom, Office Employee, and Blue Collar Worker are all examples of different looks. It’s how agents, managers, and casting directors will define your headshot, know which roles you fit best, and begin building your brand. Are you the Girl Next Door? Or are you the Hipster or the Surfer Dude? Consult with an agents, managers, or peers ahead of time to decide which looks you want to achieve.
+WHAT ABOUT HAIR AND MAKE-UP?
Feel free to do your own hair, however, I do recommend using a make up artist. You can hire your own or work with Jebbel Acre, who is our resident hair and makeup artist here at Kyle LeMaire Photography.
+ HOW WILL I RECIEVE MY IMAGES?
After the shoot, you will receive a link in your email that will bring you to a private online gallery of all your proofs. Use this to choose your favorites for retouching. Forward the link on to friends, agents, managers, etc. to get opinions. Once you are ready, email me the image numbers of one chosen image per look. I will edit them within 72 hours, then you will receive an email that contains the Hi-Resoloution digital files of your retouched photos.
+ ARE YOU AWESOME?
Yes. Yes, I am. :)
